Submissions
Luminis Books publishes thought-provoking literary fiction and young adult and middle grade fiction that is both meaningful and entertaining.
We look for beautifully crafted prose above all—writing that is compelling and thought-provoking, stories that provide glimpses of insight, while at other times challenging readers with concepts that prompt a moment of reflection to discern.
We will consider mysteries, historical fiction and science fiction that have a depth of meaning and go beyond the boundaries of typical genre fiction.
For consideration, please submit a 1-page synopsis telling us about your book, along with a 10-page sample of the manuscript. We accept only online submissions.
Please include your synopsis and 10-page sample in the body of your email message, which you can send to: editor@luminisbooks.com. We will not open any email messages with attachments—they will be deleted.
If we like your proposal, we will request the full manuscript. We try to respond to queries within 6 weeks. We may take up to 3 months to review a complete manuscript.
The Luminis Books Writing Contest
In conjuction with the Midwest Writer’s Workshop, Luminis Books sponsors the Luminis Books Writing Contest. Applicants must attend that year’s Midwest Writer’s Workshop on the campus of Ball State University in Muncie, IN to enter. Check back in late spring/early summer for details on entering in 2013 . The 2012 winning entries are on the Luminis Books website.
